The holy grail of modern day metal.

The desolate are a new band which has basically took the world of heavy metal and also dubstep by storm, their unique style has brought a surge of fans and obviously sales of their music, they have only been together for 3 years and have only stepped into the public eye within the last three months. They are the first band to ever combine the genres of dance and metal with each other and I have to admit, I too am a fan of ‘the desolate’. They are a three-man band and they can still produce sounds that the top bands create, because of this their popularity increases by the second.

The band got together around about the time the members where in college or leaving college, they started off as a metal group who mainly used the technique known as ‘screamo’ which is basically very heavy metal where the lyrics are more shouted rather than sang, but then took a new direction towards a more dubstep style root, eventually they combined the two so that they still have a bass guitar and a percussion set, they also have a synth and decks involved, creating a heavy bass line but with quite dance type instrumentals in their songs, their songs range from quite upbeat but still with a sinister tone to quite slow and very heavy, the gigs that they have attended so far have got the crowd pitting harder than ever and can only be described as brutal. The band has now been invited to headline in three different festivals and also have supported bands such as ‘Hadouken’, ‘Pendulum’ and also ‘Skrillex’.

Because they have brought together two genres together they have a massive fan base and a lot of hype, they have had a lot of media coverage in the last few months. The reason they became so famous was that they put a video of a one of their small gigs onto YouTube, this then gained 100,000+ views in just over a week, quickly they caught the eye of the big leagues, and now they have a massive contract deal and a label supporting them, we believe they are here to stay and are going to be for a while, and the artists are only in the age range of 18-21, this is a remarkably young age to be so big, the fame will hit soon and they will be immense, we are going to see a lot of these guys. Remember the name ‘The desolate’.
